Recently; we asked the cycling Sheffield public for information on any cycle-related local clubs, organizations and cafes. We at Wheelie Good Guys want to provide an information resource detailing useful information on cycling in the Sheffield area.
We have already received some significant interest, after we published an article calling for those interested to get in touch with us. One of those organizations was the Breeze Network – a bike ride programme for women from the British Cycling organisation.

Breeze Network is based around the idea of fun, friendly, local cycle rides – with support, training and opportunities such as bicycle maintenance also on offer. Janine Morrall is one of the Breeze Network Champions for the area and she spoke to Wheelie Good Guys this week:
“I trained as a Breeze Champion to pass on the love of riding bikes to other ladies,” Janine said. “The rides are fun, and friendly. You meet lots of like minded women and always involve coffee and cake!” she continued.
Free places for local rides can be booked via the breezebikerides website; whilst other rides are also listed on the Sky Ride site. Sky Ride put on a number of local rides in areas right across the country. These go alongside their showcase events the take place once a year in chosen cities across the UK (including a successful one which took place in Sheffield recently).

The Breeze scheme plays a big part in British Cycling’s commitment towards increasing the number of women cyclist’s in the UK. Women’s cycling Sheffield is rapidly increasing; and the Breeze Network scheme has had a big influence in the rising numbers.
All of the Breeze Network rides are guided by volunteers known as ‘Breeze Champions’. These individuals plan, recce and deliver all of the available rides; and there are many of them based across the South Yorkshire area – including those in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and the Peak District.
You can follow the Breeze Network for South Yorkshire on Facebook and Twitter; with more details available on our cycling Sheffield homepage. You can reach their head office directly by giving them a call on 0161 2742117 if you have any other queries for them. firstname.lastname@example.org is the direct email contact
