Sky Rides happen in many large towns and cities. This enables thousands of cyclists of all abilities to get together and ride safely on a route which is traffic free. It doesn’t matter about the ability of the riders and children over the age of eight years old can enter, too, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Families looking for an energetic, fun-filled day are encourage to participate, as well, as there are many different activities to get involved with which include events on and off two wheels.
New Friends, New Routes, New You
Sky Ride is national campaign which aims to help people discover the fun and health benefits provided by cycling. It is a mass participation event which, if your legs are struggling, is fantastic for motivation and team spirit. Cycling with friends and family, or use it as a great excuse to make new friends with a mutual interest and see your local town or city from a completely safe, new angle.
Sky and British Cycling
In partnership with British Cycling, Sport England, Sheffield Council and Sky, who sponsor the ‘home team’ for the Tour de France’, Sky Ride is occurring all over the country and we would love for you to get involved. They are encouraging the elite of the support and the next generation at the same time, encouraging over 1.7 million more people to cycle regularly since 2008. Their next big aim is to reach the 1 million participant mark for Sky Ride events by the end of 2016. Then we will see what is in store for the ‘home team’ as Sky’s sponsorship concludes at the end of 2016.
