6 Great Cycling Themed Events in Sheffield from the 2014 Yorkshire Festival

sheffield-stationIn celebration of the Grand Depart in Yorkshire, and the wheels within the Tour de France; Kelham Island are offering entrants the attraction of their Wheels Trail. Entrants are given the opportunity to discover some of the many wheels that have contributed towards Sheffield becoming the Steel City. Included; are the iconic Penny Farthing, a Boneshaker bicycle and the Sheffield Simplex car and motorcycles. They can all be found within the Charlesworth Transport Gallery. Arduous Cragg Vale Climb Will Test Peloton in Beautiful Surroundings

Cragg-ValeAs the race passes through Hebden Bridge, the half way point of Stage 2 will have been reached. Shortly after, in the valley of Mytholmroyd; the long, arduous climb up to Cragg Vale begins. Cragg Vale – as the road sign at the start informs visitors – is the longest continuous gradient in England; rising 968 feet over 5 and a half miles; ensuring a tough test for the peleton.
